Rouhani warns against violations of nuclear deal

Tehran is fully prepared to restore aspects of its nuclear programme if world powers violate the nuclear agreement they signed, Iran’s Press TV reported President Hassan Rouhani saying yesterday.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark the first annual anniversary of the signing of the accord in the capital Tehran, Rouhani hailed the deal, describing it as “useful” and beneficial to global peace, stability and development.

However the Iranian president warned that violating the deal would hurt everyone.

“Anyone that initiates the violation of the deal will be the loser in the international arena,” Rouhani said.

Rouhani has also stressed the need to exert all the necessary efforts to implement and take advantage of the historic deal.

Under the deal, Iran agreed to limit its nuclear programme and provide access to international atomic monitors in return for the termination of all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on it by the United States, the United Nations and the European Union.
