Yemeni teachers cut off main road to Aden over unpaid wages

Hundreds of teachers and professors in Abyan province in southern Yemen have cut off the main road linking Abyan province with Aden for several hours on Tuesday to protest their unpaid salaries.

The protesters told Anadolu news agency that the move comes after carrying out three sit- ins on Saturday, Sunday and Monday to demand the authorities the pay their salaries for the months of August, September and October but without a response.

The protesters held the Yemeni government and the local authority in the province the consequences of their strike, saying their will escalate their actions until they receive their salaries.

The local authority and the Yemeni government have been unable to pay the salaries of more than 30,000 teachers for the past three months.
