Jordan has reached breaking point and can no longer accept more Syrian refugees, a senior minister told officials at the World Economic Forum this weekend.

According to the country’s official news agency, Petra, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, said the number of refugees currently in the country have put more economic and social burdens on the budget, infrastructure, services, education, health and water, especially in the northern and central areas.

The Humanitarian Community of the World Economic Forum is a member of the Global Future Council on the Humanitarian System, which includes 50 specialised councils that explore the future of the world in a range of development, scientific, economic and political sectors in cooperation with the World Economic Forum.
