Egyptian Army Chief-of-Staff, Mahmoud Hegazy, met in Cairo with the UK Chief of Defence Intelligence, Air Marshal Philip Colin Osborn, who is currently on an official visit to Egypt.

The two officials discussed the situation in the Middle East and the strengthening of bilateral military cooperation, Egyptian army spokesperson Tamer Al-Rifai said in a statement yesterday.

It is unclear how long Osborn visit would last or when he arrived or would be leaving Egypt.

During their meeting, Hegazy and Osborn exchanged views on regional and international security and stability. They also addressed ways to bolster bilateral military cooperation and exchange information and experiences.

Over a period of two years, Hegazy has visited Britain three times during which he held talks with top British military officials. The Egyptian Army Chief-of-Staff’s latest visit to the United Kingdom took place in April, and came less than two months after his last visit which took place in January. His first trip to the UK was in September 2015.
