MK: There are covert relations between Israel, Saudi Arabia

Israeli Minister of Communications Ayoob Kara has revealed that Tel Aviv and Saudi Arabia have been in indirect talks to launch diplomatic relations, Arabi21 reported yesterday.

Reporting the Israeli newspaper Makor Rishon, Arabi21 said that the Israeli minister also expected his country to forge full diplomatic relations with all Arab states, starting with Saudi Arabia.

“There is a very good possibility to have relations with the countries we call the Saudi coalition,” Kara told the Israeli newspaper.

The Israeli minister expressed his joy as the official Arabic behaviour “shows that the Palestinian issue is the third priority on the agenda of the Arab world.”

He noted that Saudi Arabia and the other countries impacted by it are “interested in encountering Iran and the Sunni terror,” giving these two issues priority over the Palestinian cause.

Kara also revealed that American mediators are currently working to propose a framework for the overt diplomatic relations between Tel Aviv and Riyadh. Amongst the plans are ways to allow Israeli businessmen and firms to work inside Saudi Arabia, Kara explained.

The same Israeli newspaper reported other Israeli officials saying that the top priority of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is to “forge relations with Arab countries, mainly the Gulf states.”
