Commercial airline Egypt Air will begin direct flights from the capital Mogadishu to Cairo. This would be the second national flight to directly fly to Mogadishu in a bid to build on commercial and diplomatic ties.

There is no indication that relations with Ethiopia were discussed during the meeting between Al-Sisi and Farmajo. Egypt is currently in a dispute with Ethiopia over water resources from the Nile River.
