During the post revolution years Tunisia has suffered from increasing unemployment rates in the country caused by a decline in the economic sectors and the large gap between the outputs of education and the needs of the labour market in the country.

According to figures uncovered by the National Institute of Statistics the unemployment rate reached 15.3 per cent up to the second quarter of this year with 626,000 unemployed people compared to 625,000 unemployed people in the first quarter of the same year.

The employment strategy is the outcome of the National Employment Dialogue held in late March 2016 and attended by the UGTT, the UTICA, members of the civil society and political parties.
