Israel demolishes school in Bedouin community in Jerusalem

The Civil Administration forces of the Israeli army yesterday stormed the school in the Bedouin Abu Nawar community in occupied East Jerusalem, and ordered its demolition.

The spokesman of the Bedouin communities, Abu Imad Jahalin, told Quds Press that the crews of the Civil Administration accompanied by Israeli military forces, stormed the village and handed demolish orders to the school.

He added that residents were surprised by the decision, especially as it comes after the Israeli High court issued a “precautionary order” not to demolish the school.

He pointed out that “the school of Abu Nawar” is composed of two rooms, and it is attended by about 26 students. The targeting of the school is nothing new, he added.

Abu Nawar is one of the 18 Palestinian Bedouin communities located within the area which Israeli authorities have allocated for the so-called E1 project. Israel plans to relocate all the Palestinian communities in the E1 area in order to pave the way for building a large new settlement that is expected to divide the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
