The Egyptian media and several social media activists have shared a video showing a member of the Egyptian security forces attacking and torturing a number of African and Syrian refugees in Cairo’s main government bureacracy building known as the Mogamma.

The video appears to have been filmed by an Egyptian citizen who said that he goes to the complex frequently to get paperwork done. It shows non-Egyptians, especially Asians and Africans, being insulted and beaten.

A state of anger has swept social media since the video’s release, with users expressing their rejection of what they described as “inhumane” behaviour and demanding an investigation into the incident.
