Egyptian sailors and Britain’s Royal Navy have carried out joint naval exercises in the Mediterranean over several days, Russia Today claimed on Friday.

The exercises began after the frigate HMS Argyll arrived in Alexandria Naval Base on 9 July. The Commander of the Egyptian Navy, Vice Admiral Ahmed Khaled Hassan Saeed, is reported to have held meetings with senior British officers about future cooperation between Egypt and the Royal Navy.

According to RT, the exercises were connected with combating terrorism and threats to maritime security. Live ammunition was apparently used throughout.
