Algeria PM denies presidency stopped him presenting government's annual report

Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia yesterday denied media reports claiming the presidency had prevented him from presenting the annual report of his government’s work to parliament.

The Algerian prime minister’s statement came in response to speculation over the reasons for postponing the presentation which was scheduled for Sunday.

Local media explained the postponement as “a strong sign of preparation for a government reshuffle that could oust Ouyahia, who was appointed in August 2017, replacing Abdul Majid Tabbun”.

According to Ouyahia the presentation has been postponed due to “a busy political and diplomatic work agenda”.

The statement did not specify the new date for presenting the government’s work outcomes to parliament.

According to a constitutional amendment enacted in early 2016, the government is obliged to submit the outcome of its work to parliament annually and open discussions about it.
