Omani Foreign Minister Yousuf Bin Alawi remarked on the arrest of an Emirati spying cell in the country saying “these things happen between neighbours”.
Bin Alawi was asked during a lecture on foreign relations held at the Cultural Club in Muscat about the UAE espionage cell arrested nearly three months ago in Oman, saying “these incidents happen between neighbours” and that the Sultanate deals “nicely” with all its neighbours.
Last week, Omani media reported that a cell of five Emiratis including officers, as well as two Omani civilians had been put on trial.
The defendants were arrested, interrogated and then brought to the public prosecutor nearly three months ago.
