Qatar: Israel's provocations might end the ceasefire in Gaza

Repeated Israeli provocations might end the ceasefire in Gaza, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani told Al Araby TV.

He reiterated that the Palestinian factions did not offer any concessions to the Israeli occupation in return for the ceasefire, pointing to his country’s role in reaching the ceasefire, noting that several initiatives were proposed but met with Israeli arrogance.

The senior Qatari official condemned the Israeli targeting of media offices, schools, charities and infrastructure during the offensive on the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Al-Thani stressed that his country is committed to the Arab Peace Initiative, noting international calls for Palestinians and Israelis to return to negotiations.

Regarding normalisation of ties with Israel, he said that his country does not see any indication that Israel is ready for real involvement in the region.

Qatar, he said, has ended the chapter of tension with Saudi Arabia and is improving its relations with Egypt, indicating that Doha maintained the minimum contact with Cairo.

On the subject of Syria, he stated that the Bashar Al-Assad regime is “criminal” and the only solution for the country’s crisis is political.
