Palestine and International Law: Effectiveness and Prospects

Law for Palestine, in partnership with Birzeit University and the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR), will hold the first annual conference, entitled "Palestine and International Law, Effectiveness and Prospects."

The conference will be held online on Monday 29th Nov 2021, which coincides with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, from (10:00 am – 6:00 pm) Jerusalem time.

The conference is hosting an elite group of experts and speakers, including the UN Special Rapporteurs on Palestine over the past 20 years: John Dugard, Richard Falk, and Michael Lynk. The conference will additionally host Palestinian and forigen experts in law, politics and the media.

The discussion will emphasize the status of Palestine at the United Nations: the constant and the variable, the present and the future. In addition to addressing issues related to international law perspectives on occupation and the effectiveness of internationalization (Jerusalem and the prisoners as a model), the conference will also discuss the international legal scene with regard to Palestine: opportunities and challenges between the media, academia and civil society.
