Turkey’s prime minister has questioned why it is the Americans, and not the Israelis, who have responded to his criticism of the State of Israel.
“Why would the United States make statements on this subject?” asked Recep Tayyip Erdogan. “Surely, if anyone is going to respond on this topic it should be the Israelis, not the Americans.”
In statements last week, Mr Erdogan accused Israel of playing a role in the coup in Egypt which overthrew democratically-elected President Mohamed Morsi.
