Qatari citizens to enter the UK without a visa by 2014

Qatar’s embassy in London announced on Tuesday that Qatari citizens will be able to travel to the UK without a visa by 2014.

The announcement first appeared on the official Twitter account of the embassy. It called for visiting the following website to access all the necessary information: https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/

It also clarified that Qataris wanting to visit the UK will have to register with the website at least 48 hours before boarding, and can register as early as three months before travelling.

In a series of tweets on the embassy’s main Twitter account, the embassy advised applicants to avoid making any mistakes on the application. It also asked them to print out the registration confirmation message in order to disclose it to immigration officers at UK airports.

The electronic application will replace the traditional landing card, and Qataris will be allowed to have this visa exemption for tourism trips up to six-months long.

From the beginning of next year, the UK will also allow passport holders from the United Arab Emirates and Oman to visit the country under the new electronic visa waiver scheme.

The embassy also provided a telephone number to learn more details about this programme: +44 020 74932200.
