Russia and US are set for Syria talks in Geneva

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet his American counterpart US Secretary of State John Kerry in Geneva on Thursday to discuss the details of the Russian proposal to place Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal under international supervision as a prelude to destroying it completely.

Yesterday Russia delivered to the US the detailed Russian proposal through its delegation in Geneva. News agencies have reported Russian sources as saying the talks between Lavrov and Kerry may continue until Saturday. The Russian-US talks aim to arrive at an agreement on the process to contain the Syrian chemical weapons and hold the second Geneva conference to resolve the Syrian crisis.
