Russian airline stops flights to Damascus

The Russian airline Aeroflot has announced that it is stopping flights to Damascus. Russian news agency Inter Tass reported on Monday, July 23, that Aeroflot’s flights to the Syrian capital will end on 6 August.

The airline cites falling numbers of passengers due to the security situation in Syria as the reason for the change. Aeroflot normally flies twice weekly to Damascus; Syrian airlines offer the same number of flights to Moscow.
