China expresses deep concern over violence in Egypt

China has condemned the violent incidents in Egypt on October 6th and the security forces crackdown on peaceful demonstrators, as well as the Egyptian government’s failure to conduct a comprehensive political dialogue.


China issued the statement following the clashes that erupted during the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the October War which left 68 dead.

The Chinese foreign ministry appealed to Egypt’s political factions to initiate a dialogue that would avert further losses, hoping that the transitional period would include all political parties in Egypt and pass smoothly so that stability is restored soon.

The ministry pointed out that there is deep concern about the situation in Egypt and urged all parties to put the interests of the nation and the people first and to resolve their disputes through dialogue and consultation.
