An official in Egypt’s Ministry of Agriculture revealed that Egypt’s agricultural exports increased by 43 per cent during the period from September 2012 until the end of August 2013, the same period ousted President Mohammed Morsi’s government ruled Egypt.
Ali Issa, Chairman of Egypt’s Agricultural Exports, further explained that: “Egypt’s agricultural exports during the exports season in 2012-2013 amounted to 13.57 billion Egyptian pounds, compared to 9.46 billion Egyptian pounds during the previous season.”
Issa told Anadolu news agency on Monday that: “Egypt had exported 3.03 million tons of agricultural crops, an increase of 32 per cent from the previous season that registered 2.3 million tonnes.”
Issa attributed the increases to Egypt’s expansion into non-traditional markets in Eastern European countries and Africa, as well as to the development of agricultural products in Egypt, pointing out that the Arab countries and the European Union are Egypt’s main importers.
