12 Israeli warplanes violated Lebanese airspace in the past 24 hours

The Lebanese Army’s command issued a statement on Wednesday claiming that 12 Israel jets violated Lebanon’s airspace and flew over various areas in the past 24 hours alone, according to the Anadolu news agency.

This included four Israeli reconnaissance jets violating the Lebanese airspace and performing circular flights over the areas of Riyaq, Baalbek and Hermel in East Lebanon before returning to Israel on the same day.

The other eight Israeli military jets violated the Lebanese airspace before midnight, the night before, and flew over a number of areas before returning back to Israel. The Israeli authorities have not commented on the Lebanese army’s statement regarding its violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty. Recently, Israeli warplanes have conducted frequent military flights over Lebanon, which are in violation of UN resolutions.

On 13 August 2006, the UN Security Council issued Resolution 1701, ending 33 days of combat operations between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, known as Israel’s “July War” on Lebanon. The resolution also deployed 15,000 international peacekeeping soldiers from the UN’s Interim Force in Lebanon to preserve the peace between the two sides.
