Bombs and arrests in Palestinian refugee camps in Syria

The humanitarian NGO Action Group for the Palestinians of Syria has reported that Palestinian refugee camps have been bombed. No casualties were reported although Syrian forces arrested three young men from Al-Rimal refugee camp in Lattakia.

In a press statement released on Thursday, the group said that the Yarmouk refugee camp was subjected to shelling overnight which affected the area surrounding Al-Rija Square and Loubieh Street. A number of fires broke out near Salahuddin Mosque and fighting took place in several places between the Free Syrian Army and soldiers loyal to Basher Al-Assad’s regime; military aircraft flew over the camp.

Fighting and bombs were also reported in Husseiniyeh and Daraa refugee camps. Snipers targeted anyone trying to enter or leave Daraa. Residents complain of rising prices and severe shortages of food, fuel and medicine.

The NGO said that Hadrat camp appears to be trouble free at the moment, although there are still frequent power cuts and water shortages.
