Syrian rights group records 6,500 killed in March

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has announced that last month witnessed a rise in the number of deaths in Syria, with 6,500 women, men and children killed. This makes March 2013 the deadliest month since the start of the Syrian people’s revolution against the regime of Bashar Al-Assad two years ago.

The organisation is considered to be part of the Syrian opposition. Its statistics show that of the 6,500 killed, 298 were children along with 291 women. Of the remainder, 1,486 were fighters in the opposition forces; the rest were civilians.
