Israel renews administrative detention order against Secretary of Palestinian legislature

The Israeli occupation authorities have renewed the administrative detention order against the Secretary of the Palestinian Legislative Council. Mahmoud Ramahi MP, from Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, will be kept in detention for a further four months. According to human rights workers, this is the fourth time in a row that the order has been renewed. A court session will confirm the new order in the next few days.

Mr. Ramahi was arrested on 10 November 2010, and has been held in administrative detention ever since. A previous period in Israeli detention ended with his release in March 2009 after two-and-a-half years spent in prison.
