Israel to return stolen figurines to Egypt

The Israeli Antiquities Authority will return two archaeological figures which were stolen from two Pharaonic coffins in Egypt and ended up in Tel-Aviv. The news was announced by Egypt’s Minister of Antiquities, Mohammed Ibraheem, on Wednesday.

“After one year of negotiation over the two figurines with officials from Israel at the embassy in Cairo, we came to a bilateral agreement on the right of Egypt to get them back,” he said in a statement.

The two figurines are believed to belong to the age of “Modern Egypt” from 1567-1200 BC.
