A report in the Israeli media has accused the country’s farmers of using the banned pesticide Methyl Bromide, leading to unusually high levels of poison in crops.
Ma’ariv newspaper said that crops on Israeli farms have poison levels exceeding those in a number of developed countries, including Sweden (with the least toxic crops), Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Greece. The information analysed by Ma’ariv was supplied by the Israeli national statistics department.
