Tunisia sends humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees in Turkey

The Tunisian government has sent humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees in Turkey. The consignment was sent on the direct orders of President Moncef Marzouki and a similar aid flight is being prepared to go to Jordan.

According to the president’s adviser on international affairs, Anwar Algharby, eight tons of food, blankets and winter clothes has been put together by the government, while even more has been assembled by charity organisations in collaboration with the ministries of social affairs and health in Tunis.

Mr Algharby added that the Tunisian authorities are coordinating their aid efforts with their counterparts in Ankara and Amman to get the aid to the refugees before the worst of the winter weather hits them.
