Palestinians in the Gaza Strip reacted to the fall of the Mubarak regime with spontaneous expressions of joy. They distributed sweets, released fireworks and carried the flags of Palestine and Egypt. The besieged Palestinians in Gaza always viewed the Egyptian regime of Hosni Mubarak as complicit in Israel’s blockade of their territory. They now look forward to an end to their collective punishment and an end to the siege.
