Israeli diplomat suspended for security reasons

Israel’s Deputy Ambassador in Washington has been suspended due to “a serious blow to state security”. The announcement was made by the Zionist state’s Foreign Minister; Avigdor Lieberman told Israel Radio that Dan Arbel was suspended for security reasons and not because he leaked information relating to the public’s “right to know”.

Lieberman said that Arbel had confessed to leaking information which, according to the New York Times, was “related to Iran that apparently angered the United States”. He added that Israel’s internal intelligence agency, Shin Bet, is investigating the case because of the security concerns.

The leak was made two years ago, before Mr Arbel took up his position in the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC.
