Israeli police attack Jordanian embassy employees in Tel Aviv

Official sources in Jordan have confirmed that two of the country’s embassy staff in Tel Aviv have been attacked by Israeli police. According to the sources, the Foreign Ministry in Amman is seeking further information from the embassy.

It is claimed that the two administrative employees are bruised after an assault by two plainclothes officers. The Israeli policemen apparently insisted on seeing the embassy employees’ passports even though they carried Israeli identity documents.

The Jordanian government has still not appointed a new ambassador to Israel following the appointment of the former ambassador, Ali El-Ayed, as state minister for communication and media affairs.
