Younis Al-Khatib, Director-General of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, has said that the Malaysian delegation currently visiting the Gaza Strip has contributed considerably to bolstering the steadfastness of Gaza’s population through the diverse assistance it has sought to provide to the beleaguered sector.
The delegation, which consists of 67 members each working in different fields, visited the sector at the beginning of the month of Ramadan in order to see the poor living conditions of the population and to provide sponsorship for a number of relief projects.
During a press conference in Gaza City on Sunday, Al Khatib said that the delegation’s visit comes within the framework of joint cooperation between the Palestinians and Malaysians with a view to delivering much needed aid.
The delegation sponsored various projects within the sector through the contributions made by its specialists in the fields of medicine, education and relief. In addition, there is a fund raising campaign in Malaysia to collect donations for the Palestinian people.
During their visit, the delegation visited a number of associations and institutions in Gaza, including the Society for the care of patients with cerebral palsy and the handicapped who were given aid and food supplies.
