Palestinian Ministry destroys illegal settlement products

The Palestinian National Economy Ministry in Ramallah has seized and destroyed consumer goods and produce from illegal Israeli settlements worth more than $140,000. The products were seized from the West Bank’s northern governorates in the first four months of 2011.

In a press release, the Ministry said that its Consumer Protection teams seized large amounts of food products, aluminium and petrochemicals manufactured in Jewish settlements. The products had been smuggled into Palestinian areas by some merchants and were destroyed in accordance with Palestinian law, which bans such items.
