Israeli army closes entrance to Nablus-area village

Israeli forces closed the main southern road to village of Qaryout south of the city of Nablus at dawn on Thursday.

Israeli bulldozers arrived to the place accompanied by military jeeps and closed the road.

Abdel Nasser Al-Qaryouti the head of the village council told Ma’an that the troops closed the main southern entrance to the village with piles of dirt. This entrance is the closest one to Shilo settlement entrance.

He added that the troops refused to clarify the reasons why they closed the entrance but they only said that it is military orders.

Last week rioting settlers clashed with residents of the village who were harvesting olives on land close to a settlement. Local officials said the harvest had been coordinated with the Israeli military.
