New EU restrictions on Egyptian agricultural exports

The EU Commission in Brussels has issued a new decision to double check the Egyptian agricultural exports to countries within the EU.

The decision stated an increase in the amount of the samples to be checked from five to 10 per cent from the total amount of vegetables and fruits exported.

According to the EU Commission, this decision was taken to reveal the amount of pesticides in the Egyptian agricultural produce. This measure is taken to check whether the Egyptian exports fall within EU standards.

However, the increase of the amount of samples means doubting credibility of the government of the military coup in Egypt in following up the standards of safe food production.

It will cost €800 to check samples from each container full of Egyptian produce.
