Palestinian PM in Ramallah offers his resignation

Palestinian Prime Minister in Ramallah Rami al-Hamadallah offered on Friday his resignation to the Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas.

The resignation came several days after the two main Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas signed a reconciliation agreement that included the formation of a new “national agreement government” within five weeks.

In a letter sent to Abbas, Al-Hamadallah said: “I am offering my resignation and the resignation of my government between your hands in order to facilitate the implementation of national reconciliation.”

According to the agreement, Abbas has to immediately start his discussions regarding the formation of the government, while choosing ministers has to be based on a national agreement and should be finalised in five weeks.
