Private TV channels forbidden from covering Bouteflika's inauguration ceremony

Private Algerian TV channels have been banned from covering President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s inauguration ceremony scheduled today at the Palais des Nations.

Several private TV channels said the Algerian presidency informed them that only state and private print media reporters and photographers were allowed to attend the event.

“The private TV channels’ photographers are forbidden from attending the event,” the presidency was quoted as saying.

According to the officials, the president’s office claimed only the Algerian state television was granted permission to cover Bouteflika’s first appearance since being re-elected to a fourth term.
