Libyan army chief issues arrest warrants for soldiers loyal to Haftar

The President of Libya’s General National Congress Nouri Abusahmain has ordered his chief-of-staff on Wednesday to detain the defected soldiers.

Libyan media sources reported the order, which Abusahmain said, was issued because of the appearance of some officers and soldiers on TV channels calling for a coup against the legitimate government and the revolution.

Based on acting military legislations, Abusahmain has called for the referral of the defected soldiers to the military prosecutor.

Forces loyal to retired Libyan General Khalifa Haftar on Sunday stormed Libya’s parliament, declared it dissolved and then clashed with militias backing the central government; a few days after Haftar launched an offensive in the eastern port city of Benghazi.
