Tunisia: Man killed by swarm of bees

A young Tunisian man died after being attacked by a swarm of bees in the town of Sidi Thabet in the Ariana Governorate in northern Tunisia.

The Secretary General of the Sidi Thabet Governorate Abdul Qader Al-Sahimi told the Anatolia news agency that “a swarm of bees attacked a young man working in a phone shop on Monday and killed him, while another citizen was repeatedly stung and is still in intensive care in hospital.”

He added: “The young man who died was the beekeeper and kept them behind his shop.”

The authorities confiscated 18 bee hives and have opened an investigation into the incident, according to Al-Sahimi, and a decision was made to prohibit beekeeping in urban areas.
