Muslim Brotherhood's party: 'The counter-revolutionary judiciary cannot delegitimise us'

The political wing of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood responded to the recent court decision to dissolve it, saying that despite the dissolution of the party, the “counter-revolutionary judiciary” cannot strip it of the popular support demonstrated in five consecutive elections, and that it won’t be able to uproot its “peaceful and civilised ideology.”

In a statement Saturday, the party stressed that the “leaders of the military coup” failed to dissuade the FJP from backing the popular protests against the coup and the January 25 revolution, and therefore had no other alternative but to dissolve the party.”

The party vowed to continue the struggle until the coup is dismantled and the “killers and criminals” are brought to justice.

“The headquarters of the party, its properties and assets which have been stolen by the coup leadership, are nothing compared to the blood of the martyrs and wounded, the pain of the detainees, or the tears of orphaned children and widowed wives,” the statement said.
