“There is no technical solution in the world which can effectively end the threat of tunnels,” Major General Shlomo Turgeman, commander of the Southern Command in the Israeli army, told an Israeli audience.
In his speech to a number of southern settlers, quoted by Yedioth Ahronoth yesterday, Turgeman said the objective of Operation Protective Edge is to destroy the tunnels but whenever tunnels are discovered, the Israeli army will intervene to destroy it.
