Weapons of hope

After a day’s work in the café, Mohammed Al-Zamr uses his spare time to draw and write on fragments of missiles left behind follow Israel’s latest offensive on the Gaza Strip.

Al-Zamr, from Al-Bareej refugee camp, converts Israel’s deadly weapons to items that evoke optimism and life. The remains he uses were part of larger structures which caused massacres against children and wiped out families, however he is ensuring they give a different message to the world.

He collects empty cartridges to write the names of Palestinian towns or messages of hope on them; he puts flowers in the shells, while some fragments became a map of Palestine.
