The administrative court in Egypt has postponed a hearing demanding the widely used social networking site Facebook is blocked from the internet and mobile phones, with access permitted only by obtaining a license. The hearing has been postponed until 28 December.

One of the Egyptian lawyers responsible for filing the case demanded that both Facebook and Twitter are shut down as they are used as tools to incite violence and to plan terrorist attacks against the state.

The lawyer claimed that foreign intelligence services have been using social networking sites since before January 25 until today to organise demonstrations and incite violence.
