Netanyahu: Israel under political pressure to withdraw to 1967 borders

Israel is facing a political campaign aimed at forcing it to withdraw to the 1967 borders within a specific timeframe, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said yesterday.

Commenting on the Palestinian leadership’s intention to submit its proposal to the UN Security Council within two weeks, Netanyahu said that he will explain to the US Secretary of State John Kerry and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi during his meeting with them tomorrow in Rome that this campaign will bring radical Islamist organisations to the outskirts of Tel Aviv.

Netanyahu said: “Israel cannot allow this.”

The Palestinian Authority is scheduled to submit a proposal to the UN Security Council which calls to end the Israeli occupation of the territories occupied in 1967 within three years.

Kerry will meet Netanyahu today in Rome while the US delegation will meet an Arab representative on December 16 to discuss the matter.
