A senior Hamas leader has denied reports that Qatar had asked the group’s political chief, Khaled Meshaal, to leave the Gulf country.
“Reports of Meshaal’s departure from Doha are groundless,” Ezzat al-Rashq told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.
A Hamas source in the Gaza Strip likewise dismissed the report.
“Arab and international media reports of a Qatari request for Meshaal to leave for Turkey are unfounded,” the source told Anadolu Agency.
The source went on to describe the reports as “fabrications.”
