Sheikh Ikrima Sabri: Arab countries are responsible for the siege of Gaza

President of the Supreme Islamic Council in Jerusalem Sheikh Ikrima Sabri has described the blockade of Gaza as a humanitarian crime that is intended to punish nearly two million people, saying “this is a planned and programmed scheme”.

In a press release issued today, Sabri said what has recently happened because of the snowstorm was expected to cause the further displacement of hundreds of families and the death of some children from hunger or cold.

He added: “It is unfortunate that the Arab countries are standing by watching, under the pretext of the ineffectiveness of the unity government which did not really prove its worthiness in the Gaza Strip.”

“We hold Egypt responsible for what happened and is happening in the Gaza Strip.”

“We have noticed that even the basic mechanisms are not available to face normal emergencies,” calling for a special budget to be allocated for emergencies until the homeless families, children and women have been rescued from this disaster.
