UAE reiterates its 'historic' support for Egypt and Al-Sisi

Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan yesterday reiterated their “historic” support for Egypt and its people, the Anadolu Agency reported.

This came during their meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi in Abu-Dhabi, during the latter’s first visit to the UAE since he became president in June last year.

The UAE’s official news agency WAM reported that Al-Maktoum and Al-Nahyan discussed bilateral relations, cooperation and other issues of importance to the region with Al-Sisi.

The officials stressed that the UAE is interested in maintaining “strong” relations with Egypt as well as “promoting” and “cooperating” with it regarding common and “strategic” interests.

Al-Sisi thanked the UAE for its “historic” support for Egypt and its people. He also hailed the UAE’s efforts and initiatives to build and strengthen the Egyptian economy.
