Chief Palestinian Negotiator Saeb Erekat yesterday called for Israel to apply the four Geneva Conventions and Protocols with regards to the occupied Palestinian lands, Falesteen newspaper reported.
After a series of meetings with international representatives in Ramallah, Erekat said that the Palestinian Authority (PA)’s relations with Israel have reached the “point of no-return”.
“The Palestinian-Israeli relations will never return to the point before we joined the International Criminal Court,” Erekat said. “It is impossible for the relations to remain unchanged. It is a new stage in our relations. We have reached the point of no-return.”
Erekat, who is a member of Fatah Central Committee, said: “The collective punishment and the threats of the Israeli government are aiming to keep the situation unchanged. That is, the continuation of settlements, dictation policies, assassinations, detention, siege and closure.”
The PA official stressed that ignoring international law has been the policy of the countries whose practices always led to wars, violence, extremism and bloodshed.
