Hamas denies involvement in Sinai attacks

A spokesman for Hamas has denied any involvement in the recent attacks in the Sinai Peninsula. Salah Al-Bardawil condemned the accusations made by the Egyptian media linking the movement’s military wing to the attacks which have targeted security personnel.

Describing the media accusations as “untrue”, Al-Bardawil used his Facebook page to respond. “The attacks in Sinai come as part of a cycle of violence,” he wrote. “This is a sad and concerning thing.” The accusations, he claimed, were made “faster than any rockets” after the incidents and had “angered the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.” He insisted that the source of such allegations is either “ignorance” or “hate and collaboration with the Israeli occupation.”

Al-Bardawil concluded his post with a verse from the Qur’an: “Do not be weak and do not be sad and you are the victorious if you are believers.”
