Iran: Obama responsible if nuclear negotiations fail

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said yesterday that US President Barack Obama is unable to make a rational decision regarding the “reasonable and flexible policy” practiced by Iran in its nuclear negotiations due to domestic problems in his country.

The official Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Larijani saying: “With such a wrong policy during [nuclear] negotiations, he [Obama] would be responsible for the (possible) failure of negotiations since he thinks that he can make Iran incur the cost of his weakness in resolving the internal problems [of the United States].”

Larijani added that Obama wants, through his requests that are unrelated to the nuclear talks, for the negotiations to fail and the Iranian people to surrender.

Commenting on the US Congress’ addition of the subject “imposing new sanctions on Tehran” on its agenda on 24 January, Larijani stressed that “if Obama did not solve his problems with Congress, he will be responsible for the collapse of the negotiations.”
