Senior member of Fatah Central Committee Nabil Shaath has refused the ruling of the Egyptian court for urgent matters that Hamas’s military wing the Al-Qassam Brigades is a “terrorist” organisation, Palestinian newspaper Al-Resalah reported on yesterday.

Shaath said that the Al-Qassam Brigades are a “resistance team, not a terrorist organisation” and “Hamas is an undividable part of the Palestinian political formation that we have been seeking unity with.”

“We refuse the accusation that Hamas’s military wing are terrorists,” he said, noting that the ruling of the Egyptian court is initial and, in order to keep the Palestinian-Egyptian relations alive, it is possible to dispatch a Palestinian lawyer to appeal against the ruling.

The Fatah leader said that Palestinian unity is the key issue that contributes to paving the way ahead of solving all problems with Egypt, including the opening of the Rafah crossing.

Most major Palestinian factions have denounced the ruling.
